ARZ
Anti-Racist Zine artists
ARZ is a project designed to educate the local North East community about race and structural racism, aiming to fill the gaps that the education system has left behind.
We also want to help build and strengthen the community of anti-racists in the North East, showing solidarity for those impacted by racism.

The ARZ method
What are zines?
Zine is short for "magazine". They are little political leaflets, designed to spread messages informally among communities. They were used during the first wave feminist movement in the 1970s.
We use zines, because they are simple, inriguing and accessible to all. We also wanted to target this campaign more specifically at young people and thought zines were a powerful and creative medium. They are also physical, so distributing them in the public we believe helps to build a greater resistance to institutional racism and create solidarity through visual art.
Where to find our zines:
These are businesses and organisations that have supported our anti-racist message by allowing us to distribute our zines there.
We usually produce a couple hundred zines a month, and then distribute them near the end of the month!
