Gateshead Youth Assembly
The Gateshead Youth Assembly (GYA) is an exciting and empowering group for young people aged 11–18 who want to make a real difference in their community. As the voice of young people across Gateshead, members meet weekly on Tuesdays (5 pm–7 pm) to discuss issues that matter to them, influence local decision-making, and design and deliver their own social action projects that create positive change. The Youth Assembly is part of a partnership between Gateshead Council and Gateshead Youth Council, but young people lead on setting priorities and driving action themselves, gaining leadership skills, confidence and new friends along the way. It’s a great opportunity to get involved, have your voice heard, and be part of something meaningful that shapes the future of youth services in Gateshead. If you’re interested in joining or want to find out more, contact Valerie Ender at ValerieEnder@gateshead.gov.uk — she can help you get involved and answer any questions you have! You must be a resident of Gateshead or work/go to school there to participate.
